Torched Specific Candle Care

Follow these useful care instructions and information:

  • Always burn the candle long enough for the wax to melt across the entire diameter on every burn to avoid tunneling, which can impact how well the candle burns. Depending on the size of our candles, typically 1-2 hours is the "safe burn" period time. Our candles are sized accordingly to have more burn periods than a longer burn time so they are controlled and safe. Our 13oz-3 wicks are sized to have a 1 hour burn period with a higher flame output. Our 8oz signature cork ball sizes have a 2 hour burn period with a lower flame output. When the wax melts all the way to the outside of the jar, this increases your fragrance-throw and provides an equal burn. If you see any cracking in the wax, don't worry. This is not a defect in the candle and will not effect the burn time, because of our soy and beeswax blend, they have a higher melting point and usually when cooling down to quickly, this can happen. All of our candles contain 10% beeswax, and natural beeswax may produce “bloom”. This white powder forms on the surface of the candle over time. It is a sign of the purity of the wax and does not affect the candle in any way. We also use 100% Natural Soybean Wax in our candles. Pure soy will naturally have "frosting or pitting" as other soy waxes have soy-based additives to control this.
  • All of our candles come with a high quality patented crackling wooden wick. The wooden wicks we use are FSC certified, this means forest management certification. FSC-certified forests are managed to strict environmental, social and economic standards. It confirms that forests are being managed in a way that preserves biological diversity, and benefits the lives of local people, and workers. It is always good practice and recommended to remove or trim the blackened tops after a full burn cycle to light the wooden wick and to have a proper burn. Our wooden wicks are clean burring, and the burned material should not mix with the wax while burning. After every burn remove the chard wooden wick and dump the ash out of the vessel before lighting.
  • Keep in mind that Torched Candles Canada uses only 100% natural soybean and natural beeswax. Tops can vary due to the wax mix. We provide the smoothest tops possible with our wax, although some small variation is possible, this is not a defect. Before packaging, we complete a quality control check to provide the best quality for our customers.
  • Always remember to store candles in a cool area and never burn longer then 2-3 hours depending on the size of your candle.

Phthalates & Parabens Information

Phthalates is the name of a group of chemicals that have multiple uses. Within the group, there are different types of phthalates that are used for different purposes, one of which is commonly used in fragrance oils. Products that include phthalates are increasingly becoming a concern to consumers due to certain types within the group being labeled as potentially having negative effects on human health.  The phthalates creating this concern are typically used as ‘plasticizers,’ which allow plastic products to become flexible without compromising their strength. This type of phthalate is not the same as those that are used in creating fragrance oils. Phthalates used in fragrance oils, known as DEP (Diethyl Phthalate), are solvents used to extend the aromatic strength of the candle fragrance oil. DEP has been found to be non-toxic in skin products and candles if used at safe levels. Although, some phthalates are poisonous and they are all usually labeled and grouped together as 'phthalates', people generally want to avoid them altogether.
Parabens are preservatives used in water-based products like lotions and creams, they are not found in any of our fragrance oils or waxes!
